Since this is me creating a site for my fic, this means that I can do what I want, which means that I can inflict this on you. Here is an incomplete list of every fucking song I've used in my fic titles. (And some non-songs!)
The greatest tragedy here is that I have not used enough Jay Munly here.
Jason Webley's Icarus
Icarus, by Jason Webley, is an extremely Yi Sang song. This is why, so far, I have written three fics about him and every single one-'I Wake Up Every Morning To The Sound of Motors Roaring', 'I'm Just Pacing But He's Smarter', and 'He's Been Building A Fantastic Set Of Wings' are all from this song. It's a good song.
I think that if I was writing it now I would have titled I Wake Up Every Morning To The Sound Of Motors Roaring something from Sexy Train by The Northern Boys instead, since I think it's a really great song for Dimension Shredder Hongsang, but what's done cannot be undone. (Possibly 'This one here is a cargo jet and I'm gonna call him Shadowbane'?)
- The Excitement We Mistake For Love: This is from From A Place Of Love by mili for Library of Ruina. I don't like using songs from the canon I'm writing from for either titles or playlists as I think that's too on the news, but I love using them in fics for other things. I think that From A Place Of Love is very Fulgrim.
- Kill The Lights, Kill The Actor, Or Kill Us All is from Kill The Lights. A little mainstream for me, lmao, but it fits.
- Lay Your Shovels On The Ground, Your Hands Have Turned Green is from Sour Patch Kids by Slim Cessna's Auto Club.
- Sweet As Cherry Wine is from Cherry Wine by Hozier. Sort of the opposite of the situation in the fic, really.
- I'm Not The Kind Who Would Grovel And Fray is from The Watchmaker's Apprentice by The Clockwork Quartet, the most Drebber song ever.
- They Sent Me To The Courthouse To Pay My Dues is from-well, it's a traditional song, but the version that I was quoting from is by Blackbeard's Tea Party.
- 'Spending All Your Money On The Whores And Hounds' is from The Decemberist's The Mariner's Revenge Song. 'Bloodlusting Hunting Hounds' was almost the title of this.
- 'Possessions Laid To Measures' is from The Decemberist's The Tain. I do really want to use part of the Medb verse for a FGO Medb fic to this day.
- 'R Is For Render Unto Me, Baby' is from Loverman by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I should see if I could spell out the rest some time.
- 'The Gods You Knew Before Are Dying Anyway' is from Gotterdammerung by Zeal & Ardor.
- 'Suck and Chew Down All The Spite And Malice' is from the translation I used for a long time of mothy's Master of the Graveyard.
- 'Serpents In The Branches Branching Up Those Crooked Vines' is from Grace For Sale from The Devil's Carnival. It's also a pun. 'Raise My Hell My Cane My Stakes My Snakes' is from the same song.
- 'On Amen Corner I'll Be Delivered' is from Amen Corner from the absolutely iconic Munly And The Lee Lewis Harlots, which is counted as an 'artist' despite being one album.
- 'How Could I Have A Soul When You Gave Me No Name' is from Frankenstein by the Mechanisms. It's such a perfect Angela line that I almost regret using it here. So is 'alone with no mind, like my own just as mine'.
- 'You Are My Shame, We Lost The Game' is from Jacob Dumb from Munly And The Lee Lewis Harlots. Jacob Dumb is a really good song for Fulgrim/Fabius and Melusine, I think.
- 'Our Games Of Make-Believe Are At An End' is from The Point of No Return from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.
- 'Too Pale For The Old Grey Hound' is from the traditional ballad Edward, of which there are like a million versions.
- 'Bloodlusting Hunting Hounds' is from Wulf by Munly and the Lupercalians. So is 'A Fountainhead For All Your Miscreant Ways' and 'You Blame Me For The Angels Which Never Come To Hark'. The chorus of Wulf is one of those things that I want to have fic titles of every lyric in. Do other people do this?
- 'In Your Longing And Your Yearning Like A Ghost' is from Hollywood by Nick Cave.
